We’re so excited to introduce something new to Shine Bright Gymnastics this September: the Shine Bright Display Team!
We’ve created this new programme for gymnasts who love the fun, creative and performing side of rhythmic gymnastics and would like to take their experience a step further.
The Display Team will give our gymnasts the opportunity to learn exciting group routines, perform together, build confidence and represent Shine Bright at events beyond their regular classes.
And most importantly, it’s going to be about having fun, creating something together and becoming part of a team. 💕
✨ So, what exactly is the Display Team?
The Shine Bright Display Team is a performance-focused group for gymnasts aged 6+.
Rather than focusing primarily on individual competition results, the team will work together on creative routines that combine rhythmic gymnastics, movement, music and performance.
Throughout the term, gymnasts will learn and rehearse routines as a group, developing not only their gymnastics skills but also their ability to perform, work as a team and confidently present themselves in front of an audience.
The routines may include different apparatus and styles depending on what we create for each performance. This means there will always be something new to learn and look forward to!
The team may perform at Shine Bright showcases, selected gymnastics competitions and local community events, giving our gymnasts the chance to experience performing in different environments and in front of different audiences.
And for gymnasts who also enjoy competing individually, being part of the Display Team doesn’t prevent them from doing that. Display Team members can also take part in individual competition events where they are eligible.
💕 Who is it for?
The Display Team is open to gymnasts aged 6+ who are already members of Shine Bright Gymnastics.
Please note: The Display Team is an add-on programme rather than a stand-alone class. Gymnasts must be enrolled in at least one other regular Shine Bright class in order to join.
You don’t need to be our most advanced gymnast to be part of the team. In fact, the Display Team is designed to give gymnasts a different way to develop and shine.
We’re looking for girls who:
🌟 Love performing and being creative
🤝 Enjoy working with other gymnasts
💕 Are enthusiastic and willing to learn
👂 Can listen and follow instructions
🔄 Are prepared to practise and repeat routines
🫶 Enjoy being part of a team
📅 Are responsible and committed to attending regularly
💪 Want to challenge themselves and build confidence
Attitude and commitment are just as important as gymnastics ability.
We will hold a trial/audition before the team launches. This isn’t simply about testing how many skills a gymnast can do. We’ll also be looking at how she approaches the session, follows instructions, works with others and responds to learning something new.
🗓️ When will it take place?
Saturdays | 12:30–2:00pm
The programme will run alongside our regular Saturday timetable.
Because the team will be working towards group performances, attendance will be particularly important.
We expect gymnasts to maintain approximately 90% attendance throughout the term.
This is one of the biggest differences between the Display Team and a regular recreational class. When one gymnast misses a session, it can affect the whole group and the progress of the routine.
Of course, we understand that children occasionally get sick or families have unavoidable commitments. But joining the Display Team means making a genuine commitment to the team and prioritising attendance wherever possible.
🌟 Why are we introducing it?
At Shine Bright, we believe gymnastics is about much more than learning skills.
It can teach children how to persevere when something is difficult, work with others, perform under pressure and feel proud of something they’ve created.
We’ve also noticed that many of our gymnasts absolutely love performing.
They enjoy learning routines, dancing to music, showing their families what they’ve learned and being part of our club events. The Display Team gives us a way to build on that enthusiasm and create a dedicated pathway for it.
It also fills an exciting space between our recreational and competitive programmes.
Some gymnasts want to compete seriously and train towards individual competition goals. Others don’t necessarily want their gymnastics experience to revolve around competition, but they still want to challenge themselves, perform and be part of something special.
The Display Team is for those gymnasts.
🎀 What will gymnasts actually do?
The exact content will evolve as we build the team, but sessions will include:
🌟 Learning group routines
Gymnasts will learn choreography together and work towards polished performances.
🎀 Rhythmic gymnastics & apparatus
Routines may incorporate different apparatus, movement styles and creative elements.
🎭 Performance skills
We’ll work on expression, musicality, presentation, confidence and performing for an audience.
🤝 Teamwork
Gymnasts will learn how to move as one group, support one another and take responsibility for their part of a routine.
💪 Confidence & independence
Performing in front of an audience can be a huge confidence boost. Gymnasts will gradually become more comfortable taking up space, presenting themselves and trusting their preparation.
✨ Creativity
The team will have opportunities to explore different music, choreography and performance ideas, making this a more creative side of rhythmic gymnastics.
🏆 Is this a competition team?
Not in the traditional sense.
The main purpose of the Display Team is performance rather than competitive ranking.
The group may perform display routines at selected competitions, but the focus will be on creating an exciting, polished performance and representing Shine Bright as a team.
At the same time, Display Team members who want to compete individually can continue to do so through the appropriate Shine Bright competition pathways.
So a gymnast doesn’t have to choose between the two. She can enjoy both the team performance experience and individual competition.
⭐ How is it different from Squad?
This is an important distinction.
Our Squad programme is designed for gymnasts who want to pursue competitive rhythmic gymnastics, with a strong focus on individual skills, routines, competitions and progressive training.
The Display Team has a different purpose.
Display Team
Performance + Creativity + Teamwork + Confidence
Squad
Competition + Individual routines + Results
Neither pathway is “better”. They simply offer different experiences.
For some gymnasts, the Display Team may even be the perfect complement to their existing training.
👯 How many places will there be?
For our first Display Team, we want to keep the group relatively small so that we can give the gymnasts plenty of attention and create strong group routines.
We will start with:
Minimum: 8 gymnastsMaximum: 14 gymnasts
This means places will be limited.
We also want to make sure we have enough committed gymnasts to create a proper team before launching the programme, so the Display Team will only begin once we have enough interest to form the group.
💷 How much does it cost?
The Display Team is an additional programme alongside your gymnast’s regular Shine Bright class.
£60 per 4-week billing period
This covers the weekly 1.5-hour Display Team training session.
Gymnasts must remain enrolled in at least one other regular Shine Bright class.
✨ What about performances and costumes?
We’re currently developing the programme and don’t have specific performance dates confirmed yet.
Our aim is to give the team opportunities to perform throughout the year, including at Shine Bright events and potentially selected competitions and community events.
As the team develops, we’ll communicate performance opportunities, requirements and any costume information to parents in advance.
We’re also looking forward to creating a distinctive Shine Bright Display Team identity, so there may be some very sparkly team details along the way. ✨
💕 We’re building something new together
Because this is the first year of the Shine Bright Display Team, we’re really excited to see where it takes us.
We don’t have every performance, routine or event mapped out yet. That’s intentional. We want to build the programme around the gymnasts, see what they enjoy and create something that feels uniquely Shine Bright.
Our hope is that the girls will look forward to Saturday afternoons not just because they’re coming to gymnastics, but because they’re coming to their team.
They’ll learn routines together, make friends, overcome challenges, perform in front of audiences and eventually look back at something they’ve created together and think:
“We did that.” 💕
🌟 Interested in joining?
If your gymnast loves performing, enjoys learning routines and would thrive as part of a committed team, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll then share the next steps and audition information with interested families.
We can’t wait to see who will become part of the very first Shine Bright Display Team! 🌟
